too
fast!
HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY
to a little lady
who surprised us all since the beginning!
We thank
GOD
every day for
YOU
and all that you bring to our lives!
On mommy's hip helping me make frosting.
Frosting for these!
Lighting of the candle.
Curious.
"Okay, I DO NOT like that thing!"
Not interested!
I'm guessing by the look on her face, Natalie is thinking...
"C'mon Aleah...this is a CUPCAKE we're talking about...why are you crying?"
Doing better. LOVING the cupcake.
All smiles now!
YEAH! I love cupcakes too!
Now rewind a bit...like less than a week!
We were back in Nebraska for Christmas and New Year's break,
and the Sunday before we left to come back home to MT,
and the Sunday before we left to come back home to MT,
we celebrated Aleah's birthday with gifts.
Great-Gma Colleen and the blanket she gave to Aleah.
Opening a gift from Gpa John and Mimi.
Her own little laptop computer.
Natalie's reaction to Aleah getting a laptop computer.
Not a very happy girl! LOTS of jealous-two-year-old-tears.
Thankfully mommy knew what Aleah was getting and found Natalie a laptop of her own.
(Note: this is not something I would normally condone...just this once! Someday they'll learn to share!)
She and Uncle Brian figuring it out.
The girls having fun on their 'puters.'
Aleah's birthday cake while down in NE didn't come until the next night.
And when it did, so did the tears.
A lit candle, some HBD singing, and a still happy Aleah.
Notice that the cake is still a ways away from Aleah.
Still content...joining in on the singing of HBD.
Blowing out the candle with Daddy's help.
She was a bit tense as dad moved the cake towards her in order to blow it out.
The "I don't want anything to do with that thing" cry.
We were a bit unsure as to why the tears came.
The tears came the week before as well...
just like when we got home and had her cupcake on her actual birthday.
just like when we got home and had her cupcake on her actual birthday.
It wasn't until the cupcake cry that we figured it out.
Fire.
Aleah is afraid of fire.
Lit candles contain fire, and she does NOT like them!
I cannot believe this child is a spawn of Tony and I.
We are both fire nuts. And Natalie seems to enjoy it as well.
Ah...I'm sure someday she'll come around.
Dearest Aleah Lynn,
at ONE YEAR OLD you:
-definitely don't like fire or birthday candles.
-celebrated your first Christmas, remembering the birth of our Lord Jesus.
-got to meet Santa but weren't too keen on sitting on his lap.
-got to meet your first cousin, Addilyn, as well as Uncle Craig and Aunt Lindsay.
-almost daily empty out the lazy suzan cupboard in the kitchen.
-have been able to finally enjoy some sled rides in the snow.
-eat best when holding a spoon of your own.
-love carrying around a baggie to put toys into.
-are often caught spending endless minutes trying to work the buckle on the booster seat.
-are trying to hard to keep up with your big sister running circles around the upstairs hall and living room.
-love trying to stack the legos.
-love wearing a coat or jacket around the house with your hood up.
-know that socks and shoes go on your feet, and can often be found in the closet putting on someone else's shoes.
-get really excited to go outside and roam around on the farm yard.
-are ABSOLUTELY a daddy's girl, running to him with open arms as he's barely in the door from a day's work.
-love a phone or remote to push buttons and talk on.
-are perfectly content to sit in the Little Tikes car while Natalie spins you around like a crazy lady.
-play "So Big".
-help unload the dishwasher piece by piece, so nicely.
-have been successful in figuring out how to throw a tantrum.
-are a true cuddlebug in the morning right after waking up, and right after a good nap, as long as you have your teddy and blankie.
What a JOY you have been in our lives 'Aweeuh.' You are a wonderful little sister for Natalie, and have been the best addition to our growing family. God sure knew what He was doing when He created beautiful you! You have entertained us so during your first year while the love in our hearts multiplies over and over for you. We look forward to SO many more years and memories. HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY!!!
