Long time...

It has been quite some time since I last took some time to blog.

Christmas came and went so quickly, but it was SOOOO wonderful to spend time down in Nebraska with family. My favorite moments while we were down in NE were:

* Christmas Day when the entire family went out to play in the snow.

* Spending time with Grandpa and Grandma Hohlen looking at old slides (Gma used to take all of the negatives from her photos in and have them made into a slide show and we'd watch them on the big screen)

* Playing games with the entire family at the dining room table.

* Eating mom's famous pheasant recipe.

* Spending more time with G and G for New Year's Day, and seeing the tears in Gpa's eyes when we left for MT.

* Getting homesick for MT and realizing that our home in Montana is where my heart truly belongs! It finally feels like MY HOME!

Tony and I bought a laptop for our Christmas present this year. It is really convenient to have around. Other than that, we tried not to spend too much on eachother due to the fact that we're getting our new windows and front door soon! I can't wait until we can finish the siding and NovaBrik on the house like it is on the new garage.

There has been quite a bit of snow around here, which has been really nice. Others are sick of it, but I LOVE THE SNOW! We had a chance to go sledding with the youth group this past Sunday, which turned out to be more than what we hoped for. It was fun, but we had some unexpected excitement. One of the gals in YG had a little run in with some big bumps on steep hills and could not move when she landed at the bottom of the hill. The ambulance had to come with EMT's to get her out of the coulee that we were sledding in. Thank be to God that it was just deep bruising, and that she didn't end up with any breaks.

This past Saturday night our little area in northeastern Montana had quite a scare. There was a sniper amongst the town of Glasgow who caused some blood shed. It is so hard to understand how someone could even think of doing something like this. Innocent were people killed/injured and no one knows why yet. I don't know if we'll ever know.

Pastor Jay brought up Psalm 11 in church this Sunday, and I have been meditating on it for a few days now. This Psalm reassures us that we can take refuge our Lord to see that the righteous are upheld and the wicked are punished for their evil in these times of unexpected obstacles. It is so neat to see how the community has come together during this time, especially the believers of Christ. So many people wonder how our God could allow something like this to happen; it is so hard to understand His almightly plan for our lives, but we have to continue to put our trust in Him, and share His word with others so that we may someday all meet again at the right hand of our one true Father.

I must remember to tell those around me that I love them. Even in a small and seemingly safe town, you never know when your days will end on earth. I am not afraid of death, but I am afraid of those that I love dying before they have accepted Christ into their hearts. I will continue to share God's love with them, and do my best to help them secure their seat by our Father for an eternity.
